Tom and Tihana have known each other for years. In late 2023 they started comparing notes on a problem they both kept running into: too many companies in short-term rental were trying to be tech companies first, and operators second.

The industry was flooded with dashboards, apps, and "platforms", but the fundamentals were going unlooked-after. Cleaners were under-briefed. Owners couldn't get a clear answer about their revenue. Guests were left talking to bots that didn't understand the building they were in.

Tom and Tihana disagreed with that direction. Their belief: the companies that would win in this space would be the ones who got operations right first, and layered technology on top where it actually helped, not the other way around.

"Our ambition was never to become another property tech company. It was to be the best operator in the industry. That's still the north star."

Bloqq was founded on that principle, and since then it's grown into one of the UK & Ireland's fastest-growing STR management companies, without any sign of slowing down. We operate over 1,000 units across the UK and Ireland today.
